In this essay IÃÂm going to compare and contrast two interesting books: ÃÂThe Catcher in the RyeÃÂ by J.D. Salinger, and ÃÂThe Adventures of Tom SawyerÃÂ by Mark Twain. I will analyze the aspects of the lives of the main characters Holden and Tom, and their points of view.ÃÂ The Catcher in the RyeÃÂ is a story about a teenager called Holden. The story takes place in a modern school in the United States. The other story is older than ÃÂThe Catcher in the RyeÃÂ, and also occurs in that country, but with a younger character, it is called ÃÂThe Adventures of Tom SawyerÃÂ. Both books belong to two different periods in time but they also have many similarities. J.D Salinger, the author of ÃÂThe Catcher in the Rye,ÃÂ introduces us to the adventures and feelings of a very unusual, interesting and mysterious character, named Holden.
HeÃÂs 17 years old and was recently expelled from school. The story is told in Holden's perspectives. Holden knows how to lie and analyze people. He has a strong personality and does not conform with the rules of society. Holden commentaries about the people he knows are sad, negative, and ironic. He seems to express a sort of hatred towards the entire world.
